Lessons Learned
Risk aversion – I am working on
becoming less risk averse. Playing it
safe is the equivalent to what the servant in Matthew 25(14-30), who received on
talent, did. The master gave one servant
five talents, which he doubled. He gave
the second servant two talents, which he worked hard to produce two more. The third servant buried his talent in the
ground. Upon the master’s return, he
rewarded the first two servants for their business acumen, and punished the
third for not taking the risk to make more money. Playing it safe, burying your gifts dishonors
the One gave them to you in the first place.
He didn’t give you those gifts to be hidden away, like some cheap
trinket you got at the office Christmas party, He gave you those gifts to shine
for all to see. “…This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine…”
