Every Story Tells a Picture

As I process responses to the fundraising letter, I am humbled and inspired by the stories people share with me.  Many of the stories reinforce what I knew about TQ, and others reveal a side of TQ I never knew.  Whether it's a note on the pledge form, a phone call, an email or a letter with archival TQ documents, the response of people touched by TQ amazes me.  When I started this project, my goal was to make a movie that would change people.  Communicating with TQ's supporters, editing the interviews and reading through the written material has changed me.  Keep those cards and letters coming.  Thank you.

Happy Birthday, Jimi
Jimi Hendrix would have been 70 years old today.  While he’s been gone 42 years, the ripples from his impact on the music world continue to wash over us.  On the live recording of “Johnny B. Goode,” he changed the lyrics back to Chuck Berry’s original and sang, “…lived a colored boy named Johnny B. Goode,” connecting the old with the new linking them with an acknowledgement of America’s racial divide.  It took the stars of the British invasion, acknowledging the influence of black musicians, to start America’s “Rock World” on the patch of giving them their due.  I miss Jimi and wonder like many, what he would be up to today.  On “Doriella Du Fontaine,” Jimi, Buddy Miles and Lightnin’ Rod predicted not only Rap-Rock, but also Gangsta Rap.  How would the planned collaboration between Jimi and Miles Davis turn out had Jimi lived? Happy Birthday, Jimi.  Thank you for all you gave us.
