Body Opus Week 18
Depletion Workout
Viking Warrior Conditioning
15:15 protocol
7 reps per set with 35lb kettlebell
60 sets in 30 minutes
Treadmill work
5.5mph
3 miles
34 minutes
This is the second time out for the combining Viking Warrior Conditioning with running for the depletion workout.  I'm still refining it, but I think this is a combination that is working and worth refining.  The Viking Warrior Conditioning with kettlebell snatches offer high intensity along with set time periods which allow you to deplete muscle glycogen without camping out in the gym.  Kettlebell snatches, especially done the "Viking Warrior" way, smokes the upper body, and gets some lower body engagement.  Treadmill work not only depletes the legs, but gets in a cardio workout as well.  While Dan Duchaine's take on the depletion workout can clock in at anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours (without cardio), this variation is over in a little over an hour and packs in cardio work as well.  It will take a couple of weeks to see if this is feasible, but the initial testing looks promising.  As much as I like Body Opus, the vagueness of the depletion workout has always been a weak point.  For people that have the time to follow Dan's recommendations, 3-4 sets of 20 reps of up to 10 exercises is probably the best way to go.  By the time Friday rolls around, all I want to do is get that depletion workout out of the way and start re-composition.  It's always nice to have options.
Total time:  1 hour 4 minutes

Goal:  30 Minutes “Tangential Endeavors”
“Pedal Mania” – Guitar Player Magazine
Lots of shiny new pedals, but nothing really caught my eye.  I dug some Wampler Pedals out of storage to put on the board in front of the Tech 21 Tri.A.C.   In the end I went with the Rockett Flex Drive because it took up the real estate, but Sunday's two services with be the deciding factor.
Total time:  30 minutes

Email exchange with Zachary Davidson on writing press releases.  Set appointment for Saturday.

Read Documentary (magazine) Cynthia Close review of the new book, “Reclaiming Fair Use: How to Put Balance Back in Copyright” by Patricia Aufderheide and Peter Jaszi.  Patricia is the Director of the Center for Social Media at American University.  The Center for Social Media will have a conference, “Media That Matters 2012” February 10-11 2012 at American University.
I will post that article to the Advisory Board later this week with notes.

Met with Zachary Davidson to discuss the strategy for press releases over the next six months.  Zachary asked great questions and we are in harmony.  We laid out a plan for five initial press releases and a tentative schedule.  The first release is due at the end of January.

Watched Ultimate Guide to Structuring Your Documentary Week 8 module:
“Building Suspense with Storytelling Devices.”  Took notes.

8 January
Sketched out ideas for art show.  The goal is to integrate licensed photographs, the artwork derived from the photos, clips from the movie, and live music.  One idea is to take interview clip of TQ talking about funerals, particularly his comments on “Dies Irae,” (“Oh day of wrath, that wonderful day.”) and use that as a launch point for a live performance of “Dies Irae” (arranged for screaming rock guitar).  It will be a short clip from the move integrated with a very

Notes
First week of the New Year.  Bit the bullet and started scheduling time off to work on editing.  I am hiring Zachary to take the press release burden off my shoulders.  I planned to use his releases to feed into PRWeb, but he brought up the idea to target individual publications, so I may incorporate both.

Big music week, learned two new songs (“In The Sanctuary” and “Total Praise”), and was able to work out a pattern for “Trading My Sorrows.”  Sunday service was awesome and Advisory Board member Joyce Cheatham made a surprise visit at Grace City.

This week will be about preparing for the assembly edit, which should mean doing some more footage review, and note taking.  Scheduled to attend an Accelerent Breakfast event on 11 January at the American Visionary art Museum.  The scheduled speaker is Robin Crow, listed as “Author, Speaker, Business Owner & Innovative Guitarist.”  “Innovative Guitarist,” eh?  Sounds like fun.  I am looking forward to it.

ZERO Day – It’s The Final Countdown

My Top Ten Favorite Things of the Last 100 Days
#1 – Jesse Wieman

Jesse Wieman is the man.  I saw some of his work, and he knocked me out with his stencil work.  So far, I’ve commissioned three works based on photographs related to the movie.  The “TQ as Superman” and “TQ with Chalice” have been shown off and on in the blog during the past 100 days.  The two latest pieces “Going His Way” and “Nat Turner Liturgy” make their first appearance in the blog on the final post of 2011.  “Going His Way,” licensed from the Virginian-Pilot, was a photo accompanying and article on TQ during his early days in Poquoson.  Jesse took that portrait and loaded it with context and implied backstory.  I cannot wait to edit this into the assembly cut I am working on.

The second picture is from a photograph of Dr. Philip Lucas, who played Nat Turner during the Easter mass in Southampton, where Nat Turner led his slave revolt and was sentenced to death.  While at St. Mary’s (now a minor basilica) in Norfolk, TQ based the Easter liturgy around the Confessions of Nat Turner.

When I picked up these two paintings, Jesse gave me a Christmas gift.  The tag read, “To my biggest fan.”  It was a small portrait of Boris Karloff.  That is why I am his biggest fan.

It was one hundred days of learning and I will unpack that during the opening moments of 2012, where I have 365 days ahead of me (God willing)…
